P2 at first race with Lapierre Racing Unity

**My First Race of the Season with Lapierre Racing Unity: A Report from La Nucia**

As I reflect on my first race of the season, I can’t help but feel a wave of excitement and gratitude. Kicking off the year with my new team, Lapierre Racing Unity, has been a fantastic experience, and I’m thrilled with how we began this chapter together.

The off-season was a great one for me—finally free of any significant issues or illnesses. This winter was all about honing my skills and physical condition, and I’m pleased to report that the hard work has paid off. In the days leading up to the race, we tested a lot of new equipment, and I’m happy to say everything performed flawlessly on race day.

The race itself in La Nucia, C1 category, unfolded comfortably for me—until the decisive moment in the penultimate lap. Up to that point, I had managed to keep pace with the high base tempo, dictating my own rhythm when needed. It was refreshing to race from the front again, maintaining a strategic watch over my competitors, especially Sam Gaze from Alpecin-Deceuninck. The pace fluctuated significantly, at times feeling leisurely, only to surge violently moments later.

In the end, Sam made a strong move that marked the turning point of the race. Finishing in second place only seconds behind was a rewarding experience. It’s an early indicator of what this season with Lapierre Racing Unity can bring, especially considering the caliber of riders I was up against. Sam took home the win, with me coming in second and David Valero Serrano from BH Coloma rounding out the podium.

Next up on my schedule is HC category race Chelva, where I’ll once again face off against Sam and some of the best in the sport. In the meantime, our team is gearing up for media days, allowing us to shine a light on our goals and ambitions for the season.

I’m looking forward to what lies ahead and am eager to take the lessons learned from La Nucia into my next race. Here’s to a thrilling season with Lapierre Racing Unity—stay tuned for more updates!
